A Different World is an American television sitcom which aired from September 24, 1987 to July 9, 1993. It is a spin-off series from The Cosby Show and originally centered on Denise Huxtable and the life of students at Hillman College, a fictional historically Black college in the state of Virginia, inspired by student life at Hampton University.

A  Brooklyn native, Denise Huxtable, is the daughter of Hillman alumni Cliff and Clair. Denise was known for her unique sense of style. There are certain looks only Denise could pull off, such as collar on top of collar top, crazy sweaters,  oversize blazers &  tropical blouses. Denise Huxtable

Unlike her colleagues, Whitley Gilbert always dressed to the GAWDS  whether she was roaming the Dorothy Height residential hall or meeting up with her beau, Dwayne Wayne.  Clearly her wealthy, Southern upbringing had a profound impact on her sophisticated outfit choices. How many ladies do you know  in their 20s, that roll out of bed and head straight to lecture hall  wearing a two-piece suit and pearls?

Wardrobe pieces like a pearl necklace and tweed skirt are timeless.
